The BridgeMate® IBS is multi-redundant, with two separate networks and powered by several UPSs. It also has a remote diagnostics feature, which enables identification and rectification of any problems via V-SAT while the vessel is operating on the fishing grounds, avoiding having to go ashore for service and repair.

 

 The Pacific Glacier was built at Todd Shipyard in Seattle as a supply boat and was redesigned by Fisker Strand & Eldoy and rebuilt by Mjellem & Karlsen in Norway in 1988 to a factory trawler of 92 metres, holding a crew of 106. It is equipped with the latest state-of-the-art Baader fillet machinery, Japanese surimi equipment and Kvaerner Eureka refrigeration. Daily production capacity is up to 110 metric tons of finished pollock products per day.

 

 In February last year a serious fire broke out on board, which took 12 hours to contain, damaging the three top decks, including the bridge. The vessel was brought back to Todd Shipyard and Marine Technologies were contracted to design and supply the navigation bridge infrastructure, while Lunde Electronics of Seattle supplied all sensors, communication equipment, etc., and did the installation. The vessel is now back in operation in Alaska.
